Entryway Saving Grace
Chatham ceramic artist Mary Anne Davis is currently working on a doctorate in critical theory and aesthetics on the artist’s role in communities. So it’s not surprising that her commitment to nature and animals brings grateful rescue dogs to grace her studio and inspire designs for her handbuilt porcelain dinnerware. Her plates and bowls bear inspirational phrases and delicate drawings of flora and fauna. But especially captivating is the Rescue series, featuring portraits of Davis’s second-chance canine friends; the softly squared plate shown here is titled Ruby, Supine.
