History in a Bottle from Fishkill Landing

Beacon, New York Visit Their Site

The Hudson River flows both ways between the Atlantic and Lake Tear of the Clouds in the Adirondacks, and for the past four centuries of the waterway’s trade and travel, the river has tumbled broken glass into tiny gemstones. Benjamin L. Taylor, the proprietor of antiques dealership Fishkill Landing in New York City, collects Hudson River glass by hand from beaches along the river and repackages the softened shards into tiny jars (just 2.5 inches tall) according to color—amber, pale blue, green, or clear—creating small vessels of history.
