Clean Power Guide 2019 Sponsors

Over 70,000 New Yorkers live in solar homes, and the electric vehicle market is growing at 60% per year. The Clean Power Guide is for people who see good reasons for shifting to renewable energy—from calming the climate crisis to increasing their comfort, efficiency, and savings—but who want to do it right, on their own terms. This guide, produced by Luminary Media in collaboration with Sustainable Hudson Valley and published as a special section in Upstate House, is intended to give you the information you need and the resources for learning more.

Hudson Valley Community Power

Hudson Valley Community Power is a Community Choice Aggregation (CCA) program comprised of six communities in New York’s Hudson Valley and formed in partnership with  Joule Community Power.  The program enables participating communities to pool local electricity demand in order to leverage the collective buying power of their residents and small businesses in effort to secure more favorable energy supply rates and designate renewable generation sources.  The default energy supply to homes and small businesses in the six participating communities is 100% renewable. Participating communities include Beacon, Cold Spring, Fishkill, Marbletown, Philipstown, and Poughkeepsie.

Nexamp

Founded in 2007 by two military veterans committed to reducing our nation’s reliance on fossil fuels, Nexamp has grown to become a leader in the transformation to the new energy economy with proven solar energy and storage solutions. Unlike many of its competitors, Nexamp manages the complete solar project lifecycle, from development, design and construction to financing, long-term operation and maintenance.   The Nexamp portfolio includes more than 150 MWs of solar generating capacity and is growing rapidly, expanding to include storage for more predictable energy delivery to the grid. Nexamp’s innovative community solar program makes solar accessible to everyone—from homeowners and renters to small businesses and non-profits—by building large-scale solar arrays that feed clean energy into the local power grids. With nothing to install and no up-front investment, consumers subscribe to a project and immediately save money on their monthly utility bills, while our landowner partners receive a steady source of income through long-term lease agreements.  Nexamp is laying the groundwork for a cleaner, more secure and resilient energy future.
